International Women’s Day at Hawk & Peddle
Hawk & Peddle was not created simply to be another online marketplace.
It was created because there are many talented women with creative skills who also need the opportunity to earn their own money. Women who make beautiful, thoughtful products but often struggle to find the right platform to share them with the world.
This year’s International Women’s Day theme, Give to Gain, speaks directly to what we are trying to build.
For Hawk & Peddle, the question becomes simple.
What are we prepared to give so that others can grow?
First, we give space.
Many creative women have incredible skills but struggle to find a place where their work can actually be seen. Large marketplaces can bury independent sellers beneath millions of listings, making it difficult for new creators to be discovered.
Hawk & Peddle is intentionally curated so that talented sellers have the chance to stand out. By limiting the number of sellers and focusing on quality, we give creators something valuable: visibility.
Second, we give community.
Building a small business can feel lonely. Many sellers work alone, making products late at night, managing orders, learning marketing and running every part of their business themselves.
Hawk & Peddle aims to create a community where sellers can collaborate rather than compete. When makers share ideas, promote each other and combine audiences, the impact multiplies. A jewellery maker might collaborate with an illustrator. A candle maker might partner with a ceramicist. Together, they reach further than they could alone.
Third, we give encouragement to start.
For many women, the biggest barrier is not talent. It is confidence. The moment between having an idea and believing it is worth sharing.
By building a marketplace that welcomes independent creators and values originality, Hawk & Peddle hopes to make that first step feel possible.
And what do we gain in return?
We gain a marketplace filled with creativity.
We gain stories of women building their own income, independence and confidence through the products they create. We gain a community where success is shared rather than guarded.
Most importantly, we gain a network of makers who prove every day that small businesses can create meaningful change.
Give to Gain is not just a theme for a single day.
It reflects the philosophy behind Hawk & Peddle. When we give opportunity, support and visibility to creative women, we gain something far more meaningful than a marketplace.
We gain a community.
